Well, that’s it for providing support for the GF ship. It’s totally wiped out. But we also now know the Space Pirates are here, so Samus’s job isn’t done yet, even if she could leave. And if they’re here and it’s a Metroid Prime game, then there’s Phazon here, which tells us the nature of the meteor that caused Aether to split. (That also answers why Aether looks so strange from space: it’s literally two worlds that take up the same space. Good thing Samus ultimately landed in the Light World.)
Unlike in MP1, the advanced species of this planet is still around. All but one are hibernating, but this isn’t Samus cleaning up a world that’s been totally lost, so she’d better not explode it at the end. I imagine the Luminoth would still like to keep their planet, even though they’re having to do some pretty hefty terraforming to maintain it. Which means the Space Pirates need to be evicted in a slightly less violent manner than she did so on Zebes. Good luck, Samus!
