Grooselan has been ruled by the Four Tribes since long before records began. Four Tribes, ruling four industries—farming, construction, art and commerce—to form a bond with the land that goes beyond mere habitation. However, a fifth Tribe has arrived, and it did not come peacefully. How can these invaders be repelled?

Glossary
Grooselan
A small, though somewhat isolated, section of a continent. Its people have split into four Tribes by industry and location, though they all share a common ancestry. These Tribes have not maintained genetic isolation, though intermarriage is uncommon.
The Ritual
The one piece of magic that inhabitants of Grooselan can perform without a Trait, this process forms a Trait from a piece of the target human’s soul. Each Tribe has their own version of the Ritual, with different advantages and drawbacks conferred for each.
Source
A human who has been a target of the Ritual, forming a Trait at the cost of part of their own personality and some of their most recent memories.
Trait
A magical creature formed by the Ritual, in exchange for a part of the Source’s soul. It is bound to that Source and will die with the Source, though the Source can live without the Trait. A Trait is otherwise an independent living creature. Each Trait has one particular magical ability that is always active to some degree.
Tribe
A group of people that largely conform to the various aspects of a singular industry. The original Four Tribes together form the people of Grooselan.
