Samus doesn’t always work for free.
The first Metroid Prime game came as a result of Samus answering a distress call that just so happened to be sent out by Space Pirates. However, this one is actually paid for by the Galactic Federation, though we don’t get to see how much they’re paying. Considering literally only Samus could do this job, probably a lot.
As we’ve only seen Splinters and dead things so far (aside from that brief trip to another dimension), the chances of finding any living GF troopers is looking like “slim to none.” Even if they’re not alive, though, they’ve left some personal logs behind, and it’s in those personal logs that we find some of the best dialogue that we’ve gotten in a Metroid game. They’re often paired, and I’ll be doing my best to not speed past any of the pairs.
