That Dark Suit lasted long enough!
Metroid Prime 2 has an interesting scattering of its upgrades. Two of the beams are right at the start, with the first of two suit upgrades at the end of the first area. The first visor of two is the end of the second area, and the other is at the start of the third area. And then the last two upgrades are the final beam and the second suit. The bulk of the upgrades in any Metroid will be movement options, but this game sort of concentrates the other things together. We even had Spider Ball and Power Bombs back-to-back.
Even without the ability to move in poison water and use light beam transit, the Light Suit’s total immunity to Dark Aether’s atmosphere (and Ingstorms) is what really made me want to wait to explore. It also gives you a defensive buff on top of all that, so unless you’re really impatient, you’ll want to wait to wander until you’re prompted to wander. Some of the Sky Temple keys are available prior to obtaining the Light Suit, but many are not, so it’s really best to just hold off until now.
