Gathering Keys

In this game, they force you to wait.

In Metroid Prime 1, you can gather the Artifacts as you travel around the game. Only one is actually locked behind the final required item (the Phazon Suit); the rest can sorta be gathered as you go. However, a lot of these are under poison water, one’s in an Ingstorm, and one is even beyond a light column. None of those can be gained prior to the Light Suit, which opens a whole lot more than I thought.

The thing about the charge combos in this game is that only the Super Missile and Sonic Boom really have any use at all. The others are slow-moving balls of death, but they’re gained too late and cost too much to be worth using. The Super Missile is a quick homing projectile that costs quite little and can almost be spammed at foes. The Sonic Boom, unlike its source beam, doesn’t actually home in on foes at all. In exchange, it almost instantly creates a wide area of persistent damage on top of the target. You just have to hit, which is unfortunately a lot harder than it sounds.
