Hey, they finally mixed it up a little!

Unlike the eye, every single pillar boss is exactly the same until the last. Yes, they do different amounts of damage, but that’s really the only difference. It’s not even that some freeze or burn or whatever. They just send different amounts of projectiles or have more health or what have you. The difference is imperceptible unless you watch my health bar closely. The moving pillar was mainly frustrating because it was hard to hit things, but even then it was still not that bad. It just did more damage.

As much as I dislike timed sections in games, they didn’t do too terribly here. They gave you a warmup with the paired twenty-second navigation challenges. The thing was, those were prompted whenever you wanted and you got to practice before kicking things off. The one-minute challenge had zero practice available and frankly ridiculous barriers in the form of platforms well off the ground. Samus already doesn’t turn quickly in this game. There’s no need to make it more painful by granting instant death when you can’t hit a platform that it’s impossible to see.
