Technically speaking, the Ancient Basin is part of the city, but it wasn’t anywhere that citizens were allowed to go, generally. We’ll see why I consider it part of the city much later, but suffice to say, it’s a very long way from anything that would normally be accessed by everyday people. And of course, it also holds many of the darkest secrets of the kingdom, too.
Speaking of dark: Deepnest. Half of the place is so dark that you can’t really explore without the Lumafly Lantern that Sly sells, unless you’re really good at navigating in the pitch black. Even with the lantern, it’s still not as light as everywhere else, but at least your diameter of light is significantly greater than the height of the Knight. (I think it multiplies by a factor around 4.) After listening to Lemm for a while, that lantern isn’t so expensive we can’t access it, but it’s expensive enough that you probably don’t have it on your first visit to Deepnest. Even with the lantern, I don’t want to go explore Deepnest until it’s required. That place is scary.
