Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is currently on weekdays.

  • The Legend of Zelda (current: The Wind Waker HD)

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade (on deck: X Definitive Edition)

Poll Games:

A set of games selected by viewer poll. I try to run entire series before moving to the next.

This set is currently on Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy (current: Romancing SaGa 2)
  • Metroid (on deck: Zero Mission)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Choice series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

BLINDLY FOLLOWING THE LEADER

Hollow Knight Randomizer, Team Bingo - https://youtu.be/GAyOjxUapec

I should at least do quick checks before teleporting.

I've got it in comments at the bottom of the video, but this was a teams race. The full set of rules was that we had two people collecting items and we had to fill out all 25 items (between the two of us) on a bingo board before beating The Radiance, so (as I've learned) most teams just divide up by area, i.e. "I go east and you go west." The way the randomizer works, we actually start in different positions (though in the same area). Tim went to Crossroads, which was close to him, while I went to Greenpath.

The bingo board items are generally along the lines of doing certain out-of-the-way tasks that might be item checks on some settings. For example, freeing all the grubs in a region, reading lore tablets, beating certain foes, and so on. It might also have things on there such as obtaining specific charms or spells, or getting a certain amount of essence, or just surviving a difficult task. As I've learned from a number of randomizer races now, this game has a lot of things you can randomize, and there are a number of challenges that are meant for people just better at the game than I am. The community likes doing teams races because they're faster, but I like doing them because I can ask my buddy to do the hard fights and/or Path of Pain. (I know where it is now! I just can't even get to the first checkpoint along it.)

While I didn't capture the bingo board, even now I remember why I was really frustrated with where I found the Void Heart. Not only had I fought tough bosses in the hopes that they had it (and it ended up being in a really easy access spot), but there was a bingo board item to check two of the Nailmasters. Of three. And the one we didn't check for the goal was the one with Void Heart. So not only did we have a point of frustration that could've been avoided if I'd just gone to the Garpede Corpse earlier, but also we just got unlucky on a 1 of 3 chance for which Nailmaster to check. To be fair, the access rules for each mean that you can access all but that one if you just have Mantis Claw, but you need both Mantis Claw and Crystal Heart to reach that one. So he is the hardest to access. I just wish I'd gone there earlier.
