FINAL BOSSES WITH NO DEFENSE
Xenoblade Chronicles: No Armor Challenge - https://youtu.be/z4519IQBwxE
That was harder than expected during the challenge but met my expectations from before I started.
With how well all the fights prior to chapter 15 went, I kind of expected that the last few bosses would be fairly easy, especially with all the fights I did in Agniratha, just about clearing the entire city twice. The problem, however, is that my team could barely handle any bosses that had more than one foe in the fight. Soaring Tempest on third stage of a Chain Attack certainly helps, but we had to get that far first.
The fights that gave me trouble in the speedrun-approximate were relatively easy here, though to be fair I had a good chunk of levels more now than then. But I didn't really need to read the boss strategies. Besides, I had a different party, so it wouldn't have really worked. The fights that gave me less trouble, however―especially those after the party swap glitch―gave me a ton of trouble on this file. It doesn't help that Central Factory really isn't a great place to grind. I cleared out the whole space and came up with a grand total of 1 level. The only real solution was to just focus on clearing out the small fry because everything goes down fast. It was kind of like the entire party had Reyn's "Berserk" aura active at all times.
Oh, and I watched back the footage while I was editing and checked some things on the Xenoblade wiki. Items of note:
- Riki's "Yoink!" steals 40% of the victory AP when you steal AP. I assume it's similar with EXP. It's not a huge number, but you still get the entire victory AP afterwards, so it helps.
- The "Spirit - Telethia" foe resembles the telethia that Alvis rides, which is distinct from all the other telethia. Other than in cutscenes (which I skipped), you only see it once: in a very short and easy fight. I didn't even notice it.
- Zanza is not a foe where you cannot lose, on any stage of his fight. It's rather that Dunban used Gale Slash and Electric Gutbuster (or Tempest Kick; I can't hear what he's saying but it's definitely a kick) immediately after Riki fell, which got me just enough party gauge for him to revive Riki. Great timing there.
Thematically, I appreciate the fact that I finished stage 3 Zanza with a Chain Attack, especially one that finished with Blossom Dance. Dunban's little speech during that art is perfect for the finisher. "Born in a world of strife! Against the odds! We choose to fight! Blossom Dance!"
