FIRST STEPS TO 100%
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - https://youtu.be/FZXdUBma0xQ
I kinda wish we could read all the letters we're delivering.
Obviously, basically everything I'm doing is required for 100%. But what exactly was required now? Pretty much just the Deluxe Picto Box. You need color pictographs in order to use them for the figurine gallery, which is what that golden "Good!" marker is for. (More on the figurine gallery when we get to it next time.) If you don't have the Deluxe Picto Box before you leave Windfall, you can't get it in time to get 100% on your file.
As for everything else, you don't actually need to do it on first visit, although it's probably faster to do that. I'll also be exploring as much as possible as early as possible, which is definitely not the fastest way to do things. Folks doing 100% speedruns will leave that pretty much as late as they can, because sailing around takes a long time and you won't be able to complete every island on first visit. That's what the notes spreadsheet I showed off is for. I'm not making speedrun notes, just notes so that I don't revisit places earlier than I should. It'll make things at least marginally faster.
You might have noticed that not a lot of what I did today was required in order to proceed through the game. For example, you only need 80 rupees for the sail. I have… quite a bit more than that. If you wanted to speed through this bit (on a casual playthrough: I mentioned super swimming, which is what speedruns do), here's the actual sequence you should do:
- Grab the orange rupee under Link's house. There's all 80 rupees you need.
- Get clothes, telescope, sword, Tetra, shield (in that order).
- Get captured in FF (by courtyard spotlights, iirc, by moblin if not) then go straight to the spotlight that's shining on Aryll's room. (If you don't clear that one, you get shot with cannons when you try to sidle across.)
- Head to Aryll's room.
- Immediately buy the sail. Don't worry about anything else on Windfall.
- Grab the Wind's Requiem, then head up and do the stuff with Medli and Komali. Wind's Requiem is not required right now, but it will be in order to leave Dragon Roost, so you may as well get it now.
I'll probably follow this sequence on my New Game Plus playthrough.
