Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is currently on weekdays.

  • The Legend of Zelda (current: Ocarina of Time 3D: Master Quest)

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade (on deck: X Definitive Edition)

Poll Games:

A set of games selected by viewer poll. I try to run entire series before moving to the next.

This set is currently on Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy (current: Romancing SaGa 2)
  • Metroid (on deck: Zero Mission)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Choice series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

KONG OF THE FACTORY

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD - https://youtu.be/tyZl9PGGYxA

14, 14, 13, 11, 13. Speeding back up.

If not for 8-3, I probably could have done 15 levels, honestly. 8-3 took over an hour, and fifty minutes of that was just the Time Attack! Clearly, simply beating the level is quite a bit harder to do when I don't get to use checkpoints, and collecting everything was not much of a challenge.

World 7's theme for mechanics could probably be summarized as "moving parts." Very little moved the way it normally does in this game, but it was all very predictable because it was working machinery. I particularly liked Cog Jog for this element: Cog Jog tied moving parts to background objects in a way that reminded me of my Kinematics class (one of my favorite college classes). Music Madness was another fun one, with all its various iterations of drums. The finale of it was particularly fun, though not great for the speedrun. It felt like it was impossible to single-cycle any of the drums and I was losing a lot of time just waiting for the second cycle. Having only one heart at the time probably didn't help matters.

World 8 seems to have a theme of "everything hurts." There is fire everywhere and the rule of fire in this game is that you can't jump on it and have to stop and blow it out. There's not really any time to do that for most of the level, though! At any rate, we've had what's probably our final rocket barrel and mine cart levels, at least prior to the final boss. Doing all the K levels opens up a World 9 and I've only got one of those left to go. With the amount of World 8 left, hopefully I'll be able to finish both that and World 9 prior to the end of the stream on Friday.

Also, I reconsidered on doing Hard Mode if that's the 100% bonus. I mean, I still might. But I also reserve the right to not do every level of it. At the very least, 7-B seems just about impossible for a single-heart playthrough.
