Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is currently on weekdays.

  • The Legend of Zelda (current: Ocarina of Time 3D: Master Quest)

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade (on deck: X Definitive Edition)

Poll Games:

A set of games selected by viewer poll. I try to run entire series before moving to the next.

This set is currently on Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy (current: Romancing SaGa 2)
  • Metroid (on deck: Zero Mission)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Choice series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

KONG OF THE VOLCANO

14, 14, 13, 11, 13, 11. Though with that final boss, I really shouldn't have expected even that many.

There are only four levels left! I don't recall the difficulty of the last of those, and I have never played the other three. But with the pattern above, I would be shocked if I didn't finish next time.

Every non-boss level has had puzzle pieces, and collecting all of them grants me something for the "gallery" that I haven't checked out yet at all. I believe it's images, models and movies? If I recall what appeared in the corner after each level correctly. Either way, I'll go ahead and check it all out once I finish the last level, which unfortunately will probably be in a few weeks with my Twitch Affiliate Anniversary event game starting on Feb. 17. Xenoblade is not a short game unless you're speedrunning it, and even then it was ten hours for me. And now I have to try doing it with no armor at all, invalidating most of the speedrun tactics.

As for talking about this game, I did enjoy basically every level I played this stream except the final boss. I mean, I expect the final boss to be hard. It certainly was harder than all the others. Combined. But it was ridiculously unfair for someone with my very slow reaction time. I looked at the IGN guide for the boss after being very frustrated and even then died a few times, though it certainly felt way more fair when I read that I could just bounce on his hands when he was doing the clap. My reaction time was thankfully no longer a major factor in surviving the fight, just bouncing on his head at the end.

The World 9 levels, meanwhile, are representing each world (and then the one at the end represents the K levels). None of them so far are particularly hard. They're just fun, with gimmicks that fit each world but didn't show up originally. I do recall the Golden Temple (now 9-9) being very, very hard, though, so we'll see about that one.
