Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is currently on weekdays.

  • The Legend of Zelda (current: The Wind Waker HD)

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade (on deck: X Definitive Edition)

Poll Games:

A set of games selected by viewer poll. I try to run entire series before moving to the next.

This set is currently on Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy (current: Romancing SaGa 2)
  • Metroid (on deck: Zero Mission)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Choice series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

Hollow Knight Randomizer - https://youtu.be/Q2ExWxroSQg

PC games are easy to mod. Who would have guessed?

I've always wanted to do a randomizer. Nintendo games are largely well set up for it, but since they're exclusive to the consoles, it's really hard to work with them. But Hollow Knight is also well set up for it (actually, better, especially in terms of metroidvanias), and it's on PC, and it's fairly inexpensive to boot. And the Steam setup doesn't even lock your mouse or input to the game when you activate it, so I anticipate it being nice to stream. What's not to love?

For a couple of weeks before this video, I tried it out myself. I know that duplicate items are to get things faster, but I wanted to see what the game was like with the vanilla (that is, unmodded) pool, just all mixed up. And I added the "Jiji shop" option because let's face it, Rancid Eggs are basically useless when you have some idea what you're doing. I think I still like that setup better than this one, but it also has the potential to last up to about ten hours, so I get why they don't use it for races.

This setup and seed, I got from the "Hollow Knight Speedrun and Racing Community" on Discord. It's their standard randomizer racing settings, which "usually last 1-2 hours." But since it was my first and I had a rough seed, it, well, took longer. I am learning a lot about how I can get around in the game with nonstandard items setups. Which is why I said at the start of this that HK is probably set up better than most Nintendo games for randomizing.

Since doing this, I've tried to do the same thing again, sort of, though as part of the online nature of the community. My recording was bad, however. I don't think I'll be using it. But I do plan now to stream HK randomizer periodically. As of now, the first Saturday of every month is the plan. It has to be Saturday if I'm going to do the longer format ones.
