Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Donkey Kong Bananza

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is on Mondays & Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong

  • The Legend of Zelda (on deck: Twilight Princess)

  • Metroid

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • 5-year Stream Anniversary: Breath of the Wild 100%
  • Between Twitch series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer
  • PSI Hope 5: Oct. 19: Hollow Knight Archipelago

NOT JUST A MONKEY

Donkey Kong Bananza - https://youtu.be/iFSi_atJ3RE

Music is more literally transformative than I expected.

A theme of this game's story and setting is that two things have a lot of power: bananas and music. Bananas are just sorta brute strength. They give DK bonus skills and act like coal for everything mechanical, while still tasting good. Music, meanwhile, is restorative. It removes Void's power and puts things back to how they once were. As a bonus, it also lets DK spend time in forms reminiscent of the Elders in their primes. I imagine DK will someday be an Elder himself, if he doesn't end up like Cranky.

In Odyssey, whenever there was a fork in the road, we were forced to do both anyway and just got to pick which was first. That might also be the case here, just so we can get all of the abilities, unless the forest also has zebras. (Also, that would be zebras living in two biomes that have no zebras in real life. Not that much of this game makes sense anyway.) The road ahead will probably cannon us back up, unless the rest of the game works on a metroidvania-style either-or ability system. Which would be interesting, if a bit unexpected. Also, I suspect there will be at least one more fork up ahead.

So: ice world. We knew it was coming; the britches in the last area said as much. The ice is super slippery and I hope it doesn't show up too much. The powder is interesting. I'm not a fan of hidden platforms, but moving ice platforms was the real problem. I'm very glad invisibility seems reserved for boss fights. The normal snow is basically just white dirt. The snowball enemies are fun, though. Finally, lava: I know it's going to come back and I really, really hope there will be no more lava bath bananas. The upside is that lava doesn't really flow, so at least clearing it isn't too difficult with a good supply of both ice and time.
