The first planet in this solar system isn’t just hot because of its proximity to the sun.
I’m not sure how a planet’s core can explode and still leave a navigable planet behind, but that’s apparently what happened here. Yes, there’s lava everywhere, but apparently it’s pretty stable and the ruins are barely touched. Ignore the fact that someone’s throwing magma ball potshots at Samus from out of reach and it’s barely even hot here. At least, not hot enough to matter to the Varia Suit.
I like how each planet has an introduction scan right next to the landing site. It’s not strictly necessary to do it that way, but it’s a quick introduction not done from a menu so you can skip it if you want. Speaking of which, I wasn’t expecting for a DS game to play so much like the GameCube games. Yes, I know, DS games can be pretty big, but it’s even got (mostly) the same models and everything. (The models are noticeably lower quality but roughly the same in shape and detail textures.) There’s even all the scan text and everything. I actually like better how the scans work in this game compared to the others, with the left and right buttons for text advancement and auto-pause without holding any buttons. It’s just a shame it had to be paired with all sorts of other things that eventually start to hurt my hands.
