How much was he actually controlling?
Sorry for the extra-long final video, but I didn’t think anything in Chronos Tower was okay to shorten, so long video it is. I also didn’t want to chop the final boss off; I didn’t really do much else prior to that, and that would be a cruel cliffhanger. Besides, my backlog is long enough. I don’t want to run out of storage space for my videos, so I can’t just keep making videos at the current rate indefinitely.
For a final boss fight, I was impressed. The first phase is unreasonably difficult, but I suppose you do have five other people there to help out. And while they are alternate targets for attacks, they do actually dodge some of them, so they’re not totally helpless bullet sponges. After that point, it’s a really good final boss. Not unreasonably challenging, but also not a walk in the park. I wasn’t too put out for having to do it a second time, but it would have been nice to not require that after a cutscene death.
Thoughts on the game as a whole: It flows cleanly from earlier Metroid Prime games and is quite fun. I also greatly enjoy the visuals and the music, and the references to Hunters were not unwelcome. There are plenty of spots that could use some work—at the very least, I was expecting a special game over screen at the teleporter, like when I ran out the timer in Dread—and it would have been nice for the 100% ending to only count the items, not the scans. However, I’m still looking forward to the next game, whether it’s following Dread or it’s called Metroid Prime 5. Either one could be a lot of fun.
