VUE-995 really is the best robot, or at least the best Samus has met.
We’ve yet to see what VUE-995 is really capable of—that’ll come in a later video—but he makes for an excellent ally in any situation. Even in his first appearance, I had to include his whole segment at full speed, because he is just great. I was grinning the whole time he was there. Samus doesn’t get to carry his kind of firepower, and it’s fantastic having that sort of ally around, even if he is a little on the slow side sometimes.
With Spider Ball now in hand, I believe we’ve got all the movement abilities the game has to offer. The only missing one from previous games is the Screw Attack, and I don’t have any evidence to suggest that that exists in this game. With the way you can have Psychic objects just floating in place over large gaps, I don’t think the developers saw any need to add it. No need to add geometry for Samus to traverse when you can just make something float wherever she needs it, nor make long straight lines for her to jump across with no platforms. By the way: while it feels like you can do the new elastic jump in any direction based on the description, it’s not infinite. There’s really only three directions, and the sides don’t go very far. It’s way more up than anything.
